Commercial construction is primarily driven by both business cycles and population growth. As more people move into a given area demand increases for existing work space, schools, municipal buildings and retail stores, which become fully occupied – driving builders to build new spaces to meet the perceived demand. As the business cycle ramps up, new construction is ordered to provide space for workers and more frequent shoppers.

In San Diego, 2016 has brought strong demand and booming business and this growth is expected to continue into 2017. With the best performing commercial markets to be hotels (with a growth of 7.6%), office (17.5%) and retail (5.2%) as stated by the American Institute of Architects’ semi-annual Consensus Construction Forecast.

Jaime Partners expect major growth in the East Village neighborhood, where Ball Park Village is expected to open and plans for a Park and Market have been approved – both mixed-use projects will house residential units, office and retail spaces. The East Village has also approved the construction of downtown San Diego’s first five-star hotel, the Ritz Carlton, and Whole Foods grocery store. Not to mention the expansion of the convention center and new multi-use stadium, depending upon the results from this month’s elections.

This growth in commercial construction doesn’t end there. The Marina District is also expected to break ground on the Navy Broadway Complex (a mixed-use project that will house office spaces, the west coast regional headquarters for the navy, hotels, a museum, a park and retail space) and Seaport Village will also be replaced with hotels and retail spaces.

We use only pre-qualified contractors and subcontractors lessening the risk to clients and guaranteeing the quality we demand.

  • Construction Phase – our experience with local contractors and subcontractors and suppliers in addition to our specialized management capabilities is critical in coordinating, leading, motivating and supporting the contractors and subcontractors to get the results we have promised.

  • Site Management – full time site managers supervise all activities as well as monitor quality control. The team we assign is experienced and has the expertise to efficiently and effectively execute the work.
